CTE GENERAL INFORMATION

Assessments and advising sessions follow immediately at the conclusion of orientation in
Career Center (H3). Additional advising is available by drop-in and scheduled appointments.

ORIENTATION SESSIONS
All new Career Technical Education (CTE) students obtaining Program Certificates must attend orientation, assessment, and career advising prior to registering for courses.  Current CTE students are encouraged to develop and record a Student Education Plan (SEP) with a Career Center Advisor.  These services help students prepare for success in their chosen careers and provide and maintain historical documentation records.

NOTICE
Students MUST ATTEND the first class of each session to hold their spaces.

Students may attend classes after completing the registration process and

must show proof of registration to instructors.

CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) FEES
DAY ENROLLMENT FEE
$100 per Quarter 1 - 5 classes

EVENING/SATURDAY ENROLLMENT FEE
$50 per Quarter 1 - 2 classes


OFFICE SKILLS CERTIFICATION (OPAC)
Employment verification is offered in the following areas:  Alphabetic and Numeric Filing, Bank Reconciliation, Database, Keyboarding (wpm), Machine Transcription, Petty Cash Reconciliation, Spreadsheet, Ten-Key, and Word Processing. 

Fee: $10  per test, no retesting charge within three months.

Online Registration Starts - October 27 at 8 am

CTE Open Registration starts Tuesday, November 4

Registration Hours:  Monday-Thursday:  9 am-9 pm * Friday:  9 am-3 pm * Saturday:  8:30 am-2 pm

$100 Enrollment Fee: Take up to 5 day classes.   Must be in the CTE Program

Evening Classes - December 1, 2008-March 12, 2009

No class:   Dec 22-Jan 2 Winter Recess, Jan 19, Feb 9 & Feb 16

$50 Enrollment Fee: Take up to 2 classes.  Must be in the CTE Program

High School Diploma Orientation Information

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR WINTER QUARTER

Registration Starts Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Winter Quarter - Day/Night:  December 1-March 12


NEW DAY   High School Diploma and/or GED candidates must attend an orientation/registration session prior to enrolling at Hayward Adult School. Students should plan on a three-hour committment. Please bring an official transcript. Students must be punctual.  Doors close after the first 15 minutes of each session.

Students entering the day High School Diploma Program must take a reading and math placement
assessment prior to registering. Proper placement is critical in guiding students toward their goal of
earning a High School Diploma.

CONCURRENT NIGHT STUDENTS

Seniors currently attending high school in the Hayward Unified School District must register with
HAS at the first two sessions of evening class (Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2) at
6:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Bring a Recommendation for a High School Student to Attend
Hayward Adult School form signed by a high school counselor and a parent or guardian.

We strongly suggest that students register early.

Orientation is from 9:00 am - 12 noon located in Rm H-1

There is no charge for High School Classes.
